Sariel Har-Peled is an assistant professor of Computer Science in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received a B. S. in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1993, a M. S. in Computer Science in 1995, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1999, all from Tel Aviv University, Israel. His work is concentrated into approximation algorithms and computational geometry. His main interest lies in the extraction of the “critical data� needed to perform efficiently various tasks. He has over eighty conference and journal publications. He had served on the committees of the committees of the main theory conferences (FOCS, STOC and SoCG) in recent years.
